Six Sigma Tools

Getting the job done

The Six Sigma RDMAICT methodology provides a robust process for completing Six Sigma projects but the successful completion of each phase requires the support of a comprehensive set of tools. We have developed a series of training courses to develop expertise in the use of these tools and can provide practical support and coaching in their application through our consultancy experience.

These tools fall neatly into four distinct themes or categories:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT TOOLS: A Six Sigma project may take several months to complete and could require the input from a number of different people. The PM tools ensure that the project activity is planned and executed efficiently.

CHANGE MANAGEMENT TOOLS: Six Sigma projects involve change. Change can be unsettling for those affected by it so change needs to be managed carefully if it is to be accepted.

PROCESS ANALYSIS TOOLS: Variation in the output of a process is caused by either variation in the inputs and/or variation in how those inputs are used. The process analysis tools help identify where in the process the cause of variation lies.

DATA ANALYSIS TOOLS: Six Sigma is a data-driven improvement methodology. It relies on data collection and the analysis of that data to reveal the true root causes of the problem.
