Supporting Lean Tools and Techniques
People, Process and Tools are critical to Lean, but there is one final and vital ingredient: the Infrastructure that enables and supports the other three. The infrastructure is the surroundings, the equipment, conditions and factors that influence the actions and behaviour of the Lean teams.
The conditions and factors can be social, cultural, personal, physical, organizational or functional. But they have to be right. Organizations often "make do" with poor accommodation, barely serviceable equipment, and bureaucracy. Making do is not a Lean attitude.
